Great but.....
The play was fabulous; my only complaint was the lions' costumes, which looked more like natives than lions. The male and female lions were dressed like natives rather than lions, with the only thing distinguishing them as lions being a lion's head elevated above the performer's head. On Broadway, they were definitely dressed as lions, but at the Broward Center, it was different. Still, my friend kept waiting for the lions to appear. The Lion King himself wore a sarong and no mane, while Simba and the lionesses wore different outfits. Young Simba had nothing on his head, which could confuse younger children. Why the change in costumes? Lions should look like lions! Brought a friend to see Nick Mullen in Fort Lauderdale, January 2026, the second time for me.
